Limitations

Even Scientific Linux has limitations

We strive for perfection. Any goal less than that is sortof silly. But we are also realistic. Not everything is going to be perfect. This page documents what we know is broken, or not living up to it's potential.

Everything DVD Install - no updates during the install

If you are doing an install using the Everything DVD set, at the installation type screen, you cannot select any extra repo's, such as Updates. You cannot add any external repo's either. You have to install just what is on the DVD's.
This is because the Everything DVD set has more than one DVD and the installer get's confused with multiple DVD's and external repo's.
Solution: Use the Install DVD to do an install, not the Everything DVD's.

(SL 6.1)DVD Install - request to setup network

When you click "Next" on the Boot Loader Screen, you will be asked to setup your network before you move to the Installation Type Screen.
This is Not Mandatory.
You can safely click "Cancel". You will have to click "Cancel" twice. This is normal.
