Release Notes

The release notes for the site Example 3.0.2
Example Linux has the following changes compared to SL .

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Added by putting in /sites/example/Updates/
These Java RPMS are not installed by default as /sites/example/base/comps*
does not include them. They can be installed via "yum" after
the system is rebooted.
The example-release is installed by default by adding it to /sites/example/base/comps*.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Java

j2re is just the runtime enviroment
j2sdk is the runtime enviroment, plus compilers. So you do
not need both of these. Renamed these rpms so as to fit the
RedHat rpm naming convention.

j2re-1.4.2_02-fcs.i586.rpm
j2sdk-1.4.2_02-fcs.i586.rpm

example-release-3.0.1-7.i386.rpm

Contains /etc/redhat-release which defines release name.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Modifed by putting in /sites/example/Updates/
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mozilla

The latest stable release of mozilla was 1.5. It was decided to
include it because of it's features, such as stability and a
spellchecker. All of it's devel rpms were put into notsupported.

mozilla-1.5-LTS3x.1.i386.rpm
mozilla-chat-1.5-LTS3x.1.i386.rpm
mozilla-dom-inspector-1.5-LTS3x.1.i386.rpm
mozilla-js-debugger-1.5-LTS3x.1.i386.rpm
mozilla-mail-1.5-LTS3x.1.i386.rpm
mozilla-nspr-1.5-LTS3x.1.i386.rpm
mozilla-nss-1.5-LTS3x.1.i386.rpm

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installer changes
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It uses kernel-BOOT-2.4.21-9.0.1.EL.i386.rpm as the installer kernel by
putting kernel-BOOT-2.4.21-9.0.1.EL.i386.rpm in /sites/example/Updates/ .

The gui final install screen suggests that you go to www.cern.ch/linux for
support:-)(Just a example)
This was done by getting the /iw/congrats_gui.py file from the anaconda SRPM
and modifying it and putting it in /sites/example/RHupdates/iw/ . This is
only a example of changing the installer.
